Parent Opinion Survey
The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is still open online until Friday, 19th September. All families have been invited to participate in this survey which is conducted online and takes about twenty minutes to complete.
Intention to Leave
As we begin to plan for 2026, we ask that any families who are intending to leave our school community due to relocation of any other reason please let us know as soon as possible. This will help us to prepare for any recruitment we need to do for the new year.
Staffing Updates
Many would be aware that Abbey Gwilliam has recently stepped down from her teaching duties at Wangala Primary School. We wish her all the best moving forward. We are currently recruiting to fill this position, with the aim to have a new teacher in the room from the beginning of Term Four. Thanks to Andrea Hueston, Rashelle Moon and Allison for stepping into the classroom for the remainder of this term.
At the beginning of Term Four we will also welcome a new Education Support member, Chris Lipiarski.
Zones of Regulation
At Wangala Primary School we implement The Zones of Regulation as part of our curriculum. The Zones of Regulation help students to name and understand their feelings and the influence these feelings may have on being ready to learn. Students are taught that all feelings are okay and we can learn strategies to help us move from one zone to another. At school, students learn that being in the green zone is the optimal zone for learning. If students are not in the green zone then strategies such as mindful breathing, taking a brain break or completing a timed quiet activity may be required.
We find that using The Zones of Regulation encourages open communication and builds more positive and healthy relationships between students and teachers. It creates a common language across the school and contributes towards a calmer and more mindful learning environment.
Have a conversation with your children about the Zones to see what they know. Perhaps you could utilise this framework at home.
Happy Father’s Day
I hope all the fathers, single fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, mums who are dads, and other men in our lives that care for and love people in our school community had a lovely Father’s Day yesterday.
Open Classrooms
We will again open our classrooms on the last day of term to celebrate the learning that has taken place throughout the term. It is always fantastic to see the pride and joy our students show in sharing their accomplishments with the special people in their lives.
Unfortunately, I won’t be in attendance, as I will be taking the last week of term as long-service leave, and will be heading to Tasmania for a holiday.
Regards,
Steven King

School Wide Positive Behaviour
This fortnight, our School Wide Positive Behaviour focus is ‘We care for everyone’s belongings’
Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own belongings and to treat all school property with care and respect. This includes looking after classroom and playground equipment, returning items to their proper place, and being mindful that school resources and personal items are valued by everyone.
By showing care for both school property and personal belongings, students help maintain a organised, respectful, supportive, and welcoming environment for the whole school community.
In the Classroom P1R
We have had a very busy time in P/1R recently! In Mathematics, the students have been learning about sharing and grouping items equally, building a strong foundation for understanding division.
We were fortunate enough to have a visit from author and illustrator Fern Smith, who shared her Longest Book Project. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were excited to contribute their own drawings to be included in her book.
In addition, our inquiry learning has focused on exploring Australia, the wider world, and the solar system. Students have been developing their knowledge and curiosity about the world around them and beyond.
