School Wide Positive Behaviour
The past fortnight’s positive behaviour focus has been ‘We listen to others at appropriate times.’
This focus has highlighted the importance of respectful and purposeful listening across all areas of school life. Students are expected to listen attentively during lessons, take turns in conversations, and show interest when others are speaking. This includes not interrupting, making eye contact, and using positive body language to show they are engaged.
Listening at appropriate times also means recognising when it’s time to contribute and when it’s more respectful to remain quiet and take in what others are saying, whether that be a teacher giving instructions or a peer sharing an idea.
By consistently practising these skills, students develop stronger communication, deeper empathy, and a greater sense of responsibility in their interactions. These expectations are an essential part of successful learning and help create a positive and inclusive school environment.
We look forward to continuing to reinforce these behaviours as students build confidence in their ability to listen with focus and respect.

Wangala Primary School acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we are on, the Wadawurrung people, and thank them for sharing their long lasting culture with us as we learn and grow together.
In the Classroom: Prep/One R
In P1R, we have been learning about what life was like before we were born. We have found out how technology has changed and that made us wonder what did people do with their time?! We have found out there were lots of different toys and games and have then made our very own spinning tops and cup and ball games.
Physical Education - Grade 1/2S
This week in PE, the Grade 1/2 students have been developing their athletics skills with a focus on javelin using giant vortex rockets. It was fantastic to see their impressive displays of power, precision, and enthusiasm as they aimed for distance and accuracy!
STEAM - Grade 2/3K
Grade 2/3K students have been investigating weather patterns and cloud types. After making their own cloud spotters, they headed outside to put them to use—spotting and identifying the various clouds floating overhead.
Stay and Play
The Stay and Play program continues to be a highlight of recess and lunch breaks at Wangala Primary School. Running daily, this much loved program offers a variety of fun and engaging activities that encourage students to include others, take turns, and work together.
From creative crafts to group games, Stay and Play provides a safe and welcoming space where students can connect, build friendships, and practice positive social skills. It’s a wonderful way for children to try new things, meet new people, and enjoy their break times in a meaningful and inclusive way.
We love seeing the joy, laughter, and teamwork that Stay and Play brings to our school community!
