A message from our Principal!
Farewell Message
I write this as my final newsletter item in my role as Principal at our beautiful school. It has been an absolute honour to guide the school over the past five years and see it grow from the tiny school of just over thirty students to the school we all know and love today. During this time, we’ve seen the school develop its own identity as a true community school, focused on delivering high-quality education for our students, while also preparing them to become active participants in the world around them. I reflect on the journey of designing the school’s vision early in the school’s journey, and especially in ensuring that the school’s values were reflected in everything we do. The school’s logo is a great symbol of the community that we have built, reflecting our inclusive nature and the voice of all being valued in this landscape. Having the opportunity to build connections with all of you in our community has been a pleasure. I have thoroughly enjoyed my chats in the morning with parents/carers and students, and the many laughs we have had. I extend a huge thank you to you all for being a wonderful community to lead. I will always reflect on my time at Wangala Primary School with a sense of pride and happy memories.
Acting Principal Announcement
At this stage the expression of interest for the acting-Principal position at our school is yet to be confirmed. This acting position will be in place until the end of Term One, and the school will advertise the substantive Principal during this term, which will involve our School Council heavily. As soon as the school is aware of the acting-Principal allocation, we will announce this to you all through a Compass notification.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a great New Year in 2026!
Regards,
Steven King
Principal

All staff and students had the opportunity to vote and we look forward to revealing our 2026 School Leaders at our last assembly on Wednesday.

Inaugural Wangala Primary School Market Day
Our inaugural Market Day was a fantastic celebration of learning, teamwork and community spirit. Students worked alongside staff to plan, create and run a variety of stalls, showcasing their creativity, enterprise skills and hard work. We were also incredibly grateful for the generous donations from families and local community members, which helped make the day such a success.
It was wonderful to see so many families and community members attending and engaging with the school. Together, we raised $997.50, with all funds this year going towards our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program, helping to keep the program free and accessible for all students.
Congratulations to our raffle winners Darcy, Casey and Ayla, and a special mention to Elyas, who came incredibly close in our Guess the Lollies competition — guessing 289 lollies when the correct total was 291, just two away!
Following the success of this event, we look forward to holding Market Day again in Term 3 next year, continuing to build strong school–community connections.
Events such as Market Day provide authentic learning opportunities, allowing students to develop real-world skills in planning, collaboration, problem-solving, financial literacy and civic responsibility.
