A message from Chase, Principal for the Day!
Hi my name is Chase and I chose to spend the 250 tokens I’ve earned on being Principal for the Day!

Being Principal for the day is special, I get to spend time with Mr King and Kim, I also don’t have to do any learning. I get to wear a badge with my name on it and a lanyard like all of the staff at Wanglala primary School, I even get to sit at Mr King’s desk!

I have organised a special morning tea for all of the staff today, Tahnaya said that she thinks i am one of the best Principals ever!
I have made a deal with all of the teachers that there will be no maths today, I get to announce this over the speakers, I think all students will scream with excitement.
I am also writing a letter to Richard Marles, Deputy Prime Minister, asking for a new set of flags to replace our weathered set.
I also got to meet Misha, Julian, our landscape gardeners dog, Misha is training to be a guide dog, she is a 15 week old Golden Retriever! Julian also brought in Misha’s older sister, Charlie, a 9 year old Labrador.

I love Wangala Primary School because there are a lot of kind staff, teachers and kids.
This is the best day EVER!
Regards,
Chase

Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser
Thank you to everyone who helped with the Bunning BBQ Fundraiser on Sunday 2nd November, especially to School Council President Chelsea Thompson! It was a hot, busy day and we had a great turn out of parent and staff volunteers.
We are still finalising figures, but approximate a profit of over $2,000.00
Stay tuned for details of what these funds will be used for for our students’ learning.

Colour Run Fundraising
Prize ordering for our School Fun Run opens today and will remain open until Tuesday 19th November 2025. Families are welcome to continue fundraising right up until this date, which is especially helpful for students still working towards their fundraising goal!
Parents who have registered on the School Fun Run website will receive an email explaining how to order prizes through their child’s online profile. However, as we all know, emails can be easily missed, so we’re reinforcing the message here as well!
During the prize order window, parents can:
Log in to their profile to update or edit their child’s class name
Select their child’s prize/s
Continue to receive last-minute donations
Please note: Schools are unable to make any changes to student prize selections during this period, so it is important that families submit their choices before the window closes.
Once the prize order period ends, staff will review all submissions, confirm orders, and follow up with any families who have not yet selected prizes.
Thank you for your support, and happy fundraising!
In the P1A Classroom
In our Inquiry unit, we have been learning about the fascinating world of weather! We’ve observed different weather conditions, learned how weather maps and symbols are used to show different types of weather, talked about air temperature and wind, and even made our own wind socks – don’t they look great!
Please continue practising reading at home, including the word sets that were sent home last week. If you have any questions about these, please don’t hesitate to ask myself or Rachael, we are happy to help.
STEAM
The junior students have continued their learning about forces and motion with some kite-making during STEAM last week. By selecting various materials, they designed, created, tested, and modified their kites! We have some real engineers at our school, with many students thinking creatively and outside the box.
A Fantastic Week of Swimming!
What a wonderful week of swimming we’ve had! Swimming is such an important life skill, and our students showed incredible dedication throughout the program. They represented Wangala with respect, enthusiasm, and responsibility, impressing not only their teachers but also the instructors who commented on their excellent manners and positive attitude. Although it was a tiring week, every student gained essential skills through this experience. A huge thank you to our amazing staff for making this program possible and supporting our students every step of the way!

School Wide Positive Behaviour
This fortnight, our School Wide Positive Behaviour focus is We represent the school with pride.
We are encouraging all students to show pride in our school through their words, actions, and presentation. This includes wearing the correct uniform, showing respect to others, taking care of our learning spaces, and demonstrating our school values of being respectful, caring, community minded, and future focused.
When we represent our school with pride, we help create a positive and welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and supported. Thank you for your ongoing partnership in reinforcing these expectations at home.
Student artworks to spread joy during construction
To celebrate works powering ahead on the new Barwon Women’s and Children’s, the Victorian Health Building Authority and Barwon Health recently asked our grade 2 to 4s to get creative.
Students were tasked with creating artworks inspired by the theme “What makes me happy when I’m unwell”.
A big congratulations to Viyaan, whose artwork was selected to be part of a new mural located outside University Hospital Geelong’s main entrance – near where construction is taking place.
Viyaan’s work sits alongside 15 other artworks from young budding artists across the Barwon South West region. There’s no doubt this feel-good mural will put smiles on the faces of hospital staff, patients and visitors when they pass by it during construction.
The $500 million Barwon Women’s and Children’s will provide more women’s (including maternity) and children’s health facilities to ensure families in Geelong and surrounding communities can continue to access the very best care, close to home.
This includes a new children’s inpatient unit, new neonatal and parent care unit, specialist clinics and more operating theatres.
The project is being delivered by the Victoria Government, in partnership with Barwon Health and Built. To find out more, visit vhba.vic.gov.au/barwon
